We are often asked why we offer two different fuel kits for the TRD Supercharge for the 5VZ. Our original product when we started URD was the Fuel Upgrade Kit that replaces all 6 injectors with larger ones. That is a great kit, but we found that using a simpler approach and using a single additional injector works better. The 7th injector kit has better altitude compensation, it is easier to install, and the pre-loaded start up program is good for 99% of the trucks out there and almost never needs any additional tuning by the end user.
Some other benefits come from shooting the fuel through the supercharger. The Eaton 3 lob rotor used by TRD is not the most efficient available. The fuel going through the rotor housing helps provides a better seal between the rotors and the housing and reducing the back flow problem with the 3 lob rotor design and reduces the heating of the compressed air by reducing the back-flow. The fuel also removes some existing heat from evaporation of the fuel in the heated compressed air. This can increase effective boost and cool the compressed air resulting in increased performance. This feature is very beneficial when running higher boost pulleys like the URD SuperGrip Supercharger Pulleys.
URD recommends the URD 7th Injector kit for all 5VZ-FE applications that have the TRD Supercharger installed. The only vehicles that we recommend our original 6 injector fuel kit for are the older ones that are equipped with an Exhaust Gas Re-circulation (EGR). The reason for this is that we mount the 7th injector into the EGR port on the supercharger. If that port is occupied with an EGR valve the URD 7th Injector Kit will not fit.
URD’s customers have long enjoyed benefits from URD’s six injector Fuel Upgrade Kit including: increased horsepower & torque, smoothness, end user tunability, the elimination of high RPM lean out, and the elimination of high gear/low RPM ping. These benefits are present in URD’s new kit too. Power gains are usually in the 30-40 hp range and sometimes higher depending on how lean your truck is currently running.
URD’s 5VZ 7th Injector kit is fantastic for any truck running a higher boost pulley, or anyone who wants optimal truck performance.
Note: It is recommended that any EGR equipped trucks use URD’s original Fuel Upgrade Kit.
The URD 7th Injector System is compatible with both the 1st Gen (gray) and the 2nd Gen (black) TRD 5vz Superchargers for the following vehicles:
- 3.4 liter Tacoma 1997-2004 (non EGR)
- 3.4 liter 4Runner 1996-2002
- 3.4 liter Tundra 2000-2003
- 3.4 liter T-100 97+

Also please select which supercharger you have. The 1st Gen units were GRAY, and the current 2nd Gen units are BLACK. This info is needed because the fuel line is different for each supercharger.

I just purchased a 2000 Runner about 3 weeks ago for my wife. It was lifted on 33’s with the TRD charger and had a water/meth kit on it. When i test drove it, it had horrible knock, poor acceleration and several other things going on. After looking it over everything seemed to be novice work and poor setup so we bought it and i took it to the shop and went through it. After fixing knock sensor wiring, new o2 sensors, changing all the fluids, re adjusting the trans cable, flowmaster exhaust, cold air intake, denso IK22 plugs, new TBelt and pulleys it was running very well and i was contemplating not spending the money on the 7th kit. The runner felt strong and i couldn’t verify anything wrong with my Snap on Verus wireless scanner and 20 years as a mechanic….but i like toys and tuning…Got it delivered yesterday and installed it last night. My props to the guys at URD and this kit. It pulls much harder through the upper end and is smooth as glass. Easy install, good tuning already in it and excellent feel to the rig and it’s drive ability. Worth the money and the fun.

So I was finally able to install the 7th And the 2.1 pulley in my 97 4Runner last night. My only disappointment was… I didn’t do this sooner!! The power gain was way more than I expected and never thought my 4Runner would have this kind of power, and the customer service was excellent! I can’t thank you guys enough for the badass products! Unbelievable! That is all I can say. All my issues I had with the truck before the 7th injector kit are gone. No more surging, no more detonation, it runs smoother, I could go on. As a Toyota certified technician, I can honestly say this is what Toyota should have done with the supercharger kit when they released it. Performance and overall driveabiliity is a night and day difference. I called in my order cause I already had the fuel pump. Gadget was tons of help, and as friendly as can be. Any business owner who makes a point to tell he really appreciates your business, is good in my eyes. I highly recommend this kit and URD for all their support, if I supercharge another Toyota, it will get a 7th injector kit from URD.

Oh my god. The only way to describe how well my truck runs now is that this is what TRD was aiming for when they designed the supercharger system for the 3.4. My truck runs night and day better. I couldn’t be happier. The kit is very well built, the instructions are clear and precise, and the included wiring instructions were amazing. I’m an experienced technician, but I can see how helpful this would be for a do it yourselfer. After this, I wouldn’t put a charger on without this kit.

The 7th injector shouldn’t be optional when you install a TRD supercharger, it’s a must. Be sure to select the AFR calibration option, you’ll have so much torque in mid range boost that you’ll rarely got to full throttle.

Hands down the only way to go! I have installed and tuned many different set ups and this one is by far the easiest to install and tune. I would highly recommend the integrated AFR calibrator as it is just 1 additional wire to connect, yet it helps keep the EGTs down during boost while in closed loop(confirmed by my EGT gauge as compared to my previous set ups). Everyone always asks me what fuel up grade I would recommend and I have been suggesting the URD 7th injector kit doe some time now, even though I ran a different set up(consisting of mixing and matching different things). Now I too get to enjoy the easy tuning, less clutter, and better performance of the all in one kit.

This kit is awesome! It vastly improved the drivability of my truck. It not accelerates smoothly and pulls all the way to red line. All lean out and low RPM pinging issues are gone. Even when I had some issues with the truck running rough after the installation (it had nothing to do with the kit) Gadget was a great help with trouble shooting the problem (turned out to be a bad MAF sensor). Installation takes about a day, even less if you don’t have to drain the fuel tank and are quick at soldering–but the instructions are very clear and easy to follow. Great product, I am very happy.

The kit provides essentially everything you will need to upgrade the fuel system. Upon installation into my truck, I noticed that it did in fact help to minimize my fuel woes from installing the TRD supercharger. It corrected a number of issues ranging from power surging to the dreaded pinging issue. If you are contemplating on installing the TRD supercharger, this should definitely be your next consideration for your vehicle to protect your investment while enhancing the overall performance of the motor.

This kit is fantastic! The installation instructions were very detailed and made installation a snap. When I did have questions, Tech Support (Brian) was great. Total install took me about 6 hours going very slow and triple checking all my connections. Once installed with the 2.2 inch pulley, my truck was a completely different machine. No more pinging and it pulled strong even through 4th gear. ACTUAL ACCELERATION in 4th with 33’s. Amazing. I love the look I get from the BMW trying to pass on the right! Great product.

This product has made my truck so much more drivable. Before I had the proper fuel and timing, I had to keep the engine above 3000rpm to avoid spark know. Now, all of my detonation is gone, fifth gear is usable again, and with the AFR calibrator the transition from closed loop to open loop is super smooth. Oh yeah, the truck pull A LOT harder than it did before. I’ll be purchasing more products though URD!

All i can say is WOW!!!!!! This kit is absolutely fantastic!!! I’m running 34″ tires and my truck buzzed up the coquhalla highway in 4th gear!
Passing everything and still accelerating!!!!!! Tuning is pretty easy but i found the preloaded map was almost perfect with no tweaking. No more ping, no more lag, way more smooth power! Ha! who needs a diesel anyway!!
