The URD O2 Sensor Calibrator will allow enrichment of the fuel mixture while the engine’s ECU is operating in closed-loop mode. It is ideal for stock engines that have been converted to forced induction.
Please download the URD U-Tune Guide for an explanation of closed-loop operation.
When the ECU is operating in the closed-loop mode it is using feedback from the O2 sensor in the exhaust and makes adjustments to keep the fuel mixture at 14.7:1 AFR. This may prove to lean for most engines while operating in boost from a supercharger or turbo system.
The URD O2 Sensor Calibrator is ideal for that small envelope where you are boosting your engine and the ECU is still in closed-loop mode and is fighting to keep the fuel mixture at a lean 14.7:1 AFR. This calibrator intercepts the signal from the O2 sensor and adjusts its signal so you can tune in some boost enrichment. It is programmed using the R4 tuning software (included) and it will allow you to alter the voltage signal from the O2 sensor based on manifold pressure and engine RPM. The URD O2 Sensor Calibrator will be shipped with a map table preloaded that was developed on a 5VZ-FE engine and it works very well with supercharged and turbo applications.
The calibrator has a built-in high precision Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor (MAP). This device is voltage based and is very different in operation from the ESC1that we have been offering for years. The ESC1 device is frequency-based. In our testing, we have found that this new programmable voltage based system is more consistent with the later O2 sensor vehicles and does not have any unwanted side effects.
This device is not compatible with Toyota vehicles that use the newer type Air/Fuel Ratio Sensor(s) (wideband). For that application please use the URD AFR Sensor Calibrator. This is a single channel unit and will only calibrate the signal from one 02 sensor. A dual-channel unit for dual bank systems is in development.
