This fuel pump/filter upgrade kit is for the 2003-2004 Lexus GX470 with the 4.7L V8. The heart of the fuel system is the fuel pump. It must deliver the volume of fuel needed at the required pressure for the rest of the fuel system to do its job. If the pump can’t provide more flow, don’t expect to have the fuel needed for more power.
UNDERDOG RACING DEVELOPMENT has been making and tuning forced induction systems for the Toyota Trucks since 2005. One thing we observe time and time again is as the power levels go up, the fuel pressure starts to drop off. The stock in-tank fuel pump combo does not flow enough fuel to maintain sufficient pressure in the fuel rail. The small in-tank fuel filter appears to become clogged in less than 30,000 miles restricting fuel flow resulting in insufficient flow/volume reaching the fuel rail. This can lead to a dangerous, lean fuel mixture. Until now, the only fix for this was to buy an entirely new “tank unit” from your local Toyota dealer. The fuel filter is not available separately and is only available as a complete tank unit that includes the plastic in-tank assembly with the fuel filter, fuel pump, and level float. This retails for around $575.
URD has developed a way to replace the in-tank fuel pump with a high flow fuel pump and convert the small in-tank fuel filter with a large capacity external tank fuel filter that is easily replaced if needed. The new fuel filter can be replaced in minutes without having to go back into the fuel tank.
The URD Pump/Filter Upgrade Kit fixes both problems, insufficient flow from the stock pump, and the problem of the stock fuel filter’s short service life before it becomes clogged and restrictive.
If you have converted your 4Runner engine to any type of forced induction system, we strongly recommend installing the URD fuel pump/filter upgrade kit. The kit will also work with a stock vehicle that needs a new fuel pump or fuel filter. URD gives you the option of what fuel pump you wish to run in your pump/filter conversion kit. Both of the DeatschWerks pumps are E85 compatible. URD uses the 255 LPH pump in our supercharger kits. That pump will also work well with a stock vehicle.
